Courtney James Parkyn Courtney began her yoga journey in 2000 when her mom brought her to a class at the local gym. It was love at first breath! Her practice started out sporadic, attending classes regularly for a few months, then going months, sometimes even years without unrolling her mat. In 2007, She experienced a great shift in her life, and left the business world that she was pursuing. Wondering what her dharma was, a friend, who knew her love for yoga, mentioned teaching. After six months of one on one training with Alison Brown, she completed her 200 hour training in 2008. This opened the door to her soul, waking up an eternal part of her that had lain sleeping for years. After about a year and a half of teaching, she received a huge blessing in the form of a baby girl! After taking time off, she returned to more training, completing the advanced 300 Hour Teacher Training through Cloud Nine Yoga in 2011. The fundamental teachers whom mold her practice and teaching are Rod Stryker, Erika Faith Calig, and Sarah Powers. Discovering her passion and living her calling has completely changed her life. With the places yoga has taken her in the last four years, she is excited about the future, the community that continues to grow and the unity and love that this practice brings.
